August alone holds many races that will satisfy a bettor and fan alike. However, many horse race fans and bettors are still looking for significant horse racing events for next month to increase their profit further.

Others are looking forward to September because they didn’t have the time to travel to Del Mar this month. That’s why we will feature all the major horse racing events on the Del Mar racetrack for September 2023.

Major races at Del Mar this coming September 2023

Fanduel Racing Pacific Classic (G1)

The first must-watch race in Del Mar racetrack this coming September is the Fanduel Racing Pacific Classic. It is a Grade One race known to be the most prominent and richest race in Del Mar, with a million-dollar cash prize.

The Pacific Classic is one of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” races. The winner of this race will automatically enter the Breeders’ Cup or receive a credit equivalent to the Breeders’ Cup pre-entry.

This race is set to run on September 2, 2023, at Del Mar racetrack. That said, this race is something that you should not miss.

Del Mar Handicap (G2)

Clear your schedule, plan your trip, strategize your bet, and start choosing different types of horse racing bets for the different horse races that will happen on September 2, 2023, at Del Mar. Aside from the Fanduel Racing Pacific Classic, another race is set on the same day: the Del Mar Handicap.

The Del Mar Handicap is a race in the Del Mar racetrack annually and features thoroughbreds aged three and up. The contenders will race one ⅜ miles or 11-furlong turf racetrack.

Del Mar Mile (G2)

The third major race that is scheduled on the Del Mar racetrack is the Del Mar Mile. A Grade Two race that is also scheduled on September 2, 2023, like the other first two races mentioned. It is also a yearly race happening on Del Mar that mustn’t be missed.

Thoroughbred trainers have already expressed interest in the Del Mar Mile race this year, such as Trainer Peter Eurton, who is now allowing his horse Exalted to rest to be healthy and well-prepared for next month’s upcoming Del Mar Mile.

Green Flash Handicap (G3)

Another race on September 2, 2023, is the Green Flash Handicap. Although this is only a Grade Three race, the excitement that it can give you is unmatched. This race is open for thoroughbreds three years and older who can compete on a five-furlong turf racetrack. The purse for the race will be $150,000.

Torrey Pines Stakes (G3)

The last major race you can watch on September 2, 2023, is the Torrey Pines Stakes. This race was inaugurated on September 10, 1976. It allowed three-year-old fillies to showcase their racing skills.

So, expect fillies to run on a 1 1/16 mile dirt track on Del Mar. It reminds fans that horse racing isn’t just for male thoroughbreds but also for female horses.

Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby (G2)

After enjoying the five significant races on September 2, you should immediately recharge as there is one more race the Del Mar racetrack offers the following day. The major race on September 3, 2023, is the Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby.

This race was inaugurated in 1945 as the Quigley Memorial Handicap but was eventually changed to Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby in 2021 when Caesars Sportsbook presented it for the first time.

Fanduel Racing Del Mar Debutante (G1)

After the Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby, you’ll be given a few days to rest before witnessing the Fanduel Racing Del Mar Debutante. It is because this next race is scheduled on September 9, 2023.

The Del Mar Debutante is a race that features two-year-old fillies. It means that horses running in this race are younger than you are used to. So, it might be a unique race you will witness this September.

John C. Mabee Stakes (G2)

The John C. Mabee Stakes is committed to female horses and is scheduled on September 9, the same day as the Del Mar Debutante. The race commemorated John C. Mabee, a renowned horse breeder.

John C. Mabee won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Breeder three times. Mabee died in 2002 at the age of 80.

Runhappy Del Mar Futurity (G1)

On September 10, 2023, you will witness the Runhappy Del Mar Futurity. Another Grade One race that the Del Mar racetrack presents. The Futurity is another staple race in Del Mar annually. You can expect to witness this race every time you visit the racetrack during their first horse racing season.

Del Mar Juvenile Turf (G3)

The last on the list is the Del Mar Juvenile Turf. This Grade Three race is the last major race you will observe this first season of horse racing in Del Mar. It is scheduled to run after the Futurity on the closing day of the first racing season of the racetrack. As the name suggests, the Del Mar Juvenile Turf is a race for two-year-olds on a one-mile turf track.
