Hotel Grand to Stand at Racetree

Prominent Queensland thoroughbred operation Racetree today announced the addition of multiple Group One winner Hotel Grand to its stallion roster for 2007.

In a multi-million dollar deal, Hotel Grand’s stud future has been assured with stakeholders to include his original owners and a major Queensland client of Racetree.

Hotel Grand, a dual classic Group One winner, arrived yesterday to his new home at Racetree, one of Queensland’s leading thoroughbred properties.

Racetree’s managing director Kevin Dixon said he was delighted to be able to secure Hotel Grand to stand at his Innisplain property.

“We are very excited to welcome Hotel Grand to Racetree,” Dixon commented. “It is not every day you can add a multiple Group One winner of Australian classic races to your stallion roster.”

Hotel Grand shot to stardom on the racetrack when he captured three Group races headed by the Spring Champion Stakes and Randwick Guineas double.

A lightly raced prospect, Hotel Grand’s three Group race victories came from just nine career outings. He earned almost $600,000 in this short time.

Hotel Grand is a beautifully bred stallion. He is by the former top international sire Grand Lodge – a sire of 55 stakes winners including Sinndar, Grandera, Grand Zulu, Freemason and Shamdala.

Being a son of the grand producing Star Watch mare Terrestial, Hotel Grand is a half brother to the Group One TJ Smith Classic winner Outback Prince.

“Hotel Grand will have great appeal to breeders,” Dixon pointed out.
“His racetrack performance was outstanding and he is a magnificently conformed horse, very much in the classic style.”

“He is the sort of horse most breeders and owners can only dream about having in their paddocks.”

The service fee for this exciting young stallion prospect has been set at $15,000 plus GST.

Hotel Grand will stand alongside exciting prospects Greenwood Lake and Top Marc in 2007.

Greenwood Lake, a Group One winner as a juvenile, is a three quarter brother to successful sire Success Express, while Top Marc will become the first stakes winning son of Canadian Silver to retire to stud after a career record of twelve wins and over $400,000 in prizemoney.
