His previous starts had all been on good to dead tracks bar one on a soft track over 1300m in May 2005. Further wins are predicted for this well bred gelding if there is any rain about to soften the track. His efforts on the firmer going are not to be sneezed at either, a number were within 3 lengths of the winners. However, it is his ability to handle the softer conditions that give him the edge.

Envee has a very interesting pedigree, one for the linebreeders to drool over. It is true that he has only Raise A Native 4x6 as a duplication within 6 generations sire and dam. However, along with a number of influences further back, his dam plays a great role in his ability. Gabrielle was unraced as was her dam Gypsy Fire. Gypsy Fire produced 5 named foals of which 3 raced for 2 winners. She was a half sister to Castanets, dam of Glammis, a G2 winner and placed third in the G1 Golden Slipper, and of Listed winner Bolster and G3 placed Martanets.

Gypsy Fire is by Bakharoff out of Valencia, full sister to Vice Regal. This gives Gabrielle the full siblings Vice Regal and Valencia (Bismarck II-Kind Regards) 1x2 and therefore 4 lines of Cinna via Kind Regards' dam Waft.

Green Perfume has a strong background of Rock Sand and Fair Play, particularly in Man o'War and Mad Hatter, damsire of Sword Dancer's sire Sunglow. He is by Fair Play out of a Rock Sand mare. This matches beautifully with the crosses of Man o'War who is by Fair Play out of a Rock Sand mare.

Raise A Native, the only duplication sire and dam as mentioned above reinforces the number 8 family line of Padua carried through Envee's pedigree. In fact, his 5th dam is Padua's daughter Padula who is also the dam of Black Servant (by Black Toney), sire of Blue Larkspur. Blue Larkspur is also out of Blossom Time out of Vaila out of Padilla, a daughter of Padua. Blue Larkspur appears as damsire of By Jimminy, damsire of Sword Dancer.

Sword Dancer is duplicated 4x2 via Green Perfume's dam Pretty Is. He carries a further line of Black Toney and has Speed Boat (Man o'War - Friar's Carse) as his 3rd dam. Friar's Carse is by Friar Rock (Rock Sand - Fairy Gold) who is bred similar to Man o'War as Fair Play's dam is Fairy Gold. Speed Boat is a full sister to War Relic, sire of Relic who is the sire of Bismark II. Relic also has a reinforcing female line as well, his dam Bridal Colors is by Black Toney out of Vaila, making him a close genetic relation to Blue Larkspur.
