Horse Racing Calendar 2021

| May 13, 2021

The year 2021 is shaping up to be another big one for the horse racing industry around the world. Although there will be several exciting competitions, the crowd limits occasioned by the global Covid-19 pandemic remain in place. From the Triple Crown in the spring and the Breeders’ Cup in the fall, to other series in Australia and the USA, we look at some of the races to look forward to. The Melbourne Cup betting guide will be looking at one of the upcoming events of the year.

All of these races, as well as the big preps that precede them and all of the other major events along the way, are listed on our horse racing calendar.

Triple Crown kicks off in May, making it one of the two most critical months of horse racing. The famous Kentucky Derby took place on the first Saturday of May.

The Preakness Stakes follows, while the top older horses compete on the turf in the Man o’ War Stakes in New York.

Preakness Stakes – May 15, 2021

Early in June, during Belmont’s fantastic summer meet, the Triple Crown will be wrapped up. On the first Saturday in June, almost all of America’s Grade I activity takes place in New York. The Acorn and Belmont Stakes are for sophomores, while the Metropolitan Handicap (‘Met Mile’) is for older horses.
