Hearts on fire

E-mail Print PDF

QUEENSLAND’S CHAMPION SIRE, and one of the country’s most consistent stallions, SHOW A HEART added another G1 victory to his sire resume when his highly talented son Toorak Toff ran a blistering time to claim the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.

Show A Heart is the last remaining Star Kingdom line stallion still consistently producing stakes winners. Therefore the future of this sire-line sits squarely on the Glenlogan Park sire’s ability to leave sons capable of standing at commercial farms – and in Toorak Toff he has certainly achieved that!

Toorak Toff has always been a horse of the highest caliber ever since he won impressively at Caulfield on debut. He went on to claim a G3 race as a 2YO, a G1 race when 3YO and now a second event at the highest level as a recently turned 4YO.

Rick Hore Lacy has made no secret of the fact he has considered this son of Show A Heart the most talented galloper he has thrown a saddle over since Redoute’s Choice was in his stable and the flashy chestnut looks destined to fulfill that assessment.

Toorak Toff bounced the gates today and jockey Craig Williams positioned him up behind the leaders back, just stalking the speed.

As they entered the straight it was obvious that he was going to be the horse to beat as he cruised up to the lead before letting down and never looking in danger.

“He is a serious, serious horse,” Hore Lacy said after the race. “I was confident we had got over all of his problems when he went so well first up in the (G3) Bobbie Lewis a few weeks ago.

“With a different run in transit I was sure we would have won that race and there are very few gallopers in the land that I am worried about with this fellow is on his game and has no bad luck.

“We will go home and enjoy ourselves tonight before deciding where to go from here. However he is a very versatile horse and we have plenty of options open to us.

“It is a real good day!”

Jockey Craig Williams was thrilled with Toorak Toff’s performance and full of praise. “He jumped perfectly and just trucked in behind them,” Craig said. “I had a stack of horse underneath me – he felt like a train!

“Then, when he saw daylight and pinned his ears back they were never going to catch him. It was a fantastic win and he is a top quality horse!”
