Photograph Restoration:
Do you have old, tattered or faded photographs that you wish could be restored like new? Thoroughbred Village's Art department can restore or retouch your photographic prints for you to proudly share with family and friends for many years to come. Our Services include digital restoration of photographs, removal of unwanted blemishes and colour casts, removal or alteration of unwanted elements, and photographic enhancement for display purposes. Your old photographs can now look like new again!
Why restore your old photos? Photographs contain your most cherished memories. You've kept them lovingly in the drawer but don't want to bring them out for fear of losing or destroying them. No matter how worn, cracked, yellowed or damaged they are, you don’t throw them way because these are images of your past. Now with Thoroughbred Village's Photographic Restoration Service you can bring your rich but neglected history to life again.
Using digital remastering technology, and the skills and care of our qualified artists, the Thoroughbred Village Art Department can make faded colours rich again, remove damage and clean up mold, producing images that are as clear and crisp as the day they were taken. You can fight the ravages of time by making a lasting record of your most cherished moments.
We can also remove non-essential elements from your favourite pictures. Have you ever wanted to remove that larrikin in the background, distracting the viewer’s eye from your horse’s finest moment? Your photos will be cleaner, fresher and contain more impact and emotion than you ever thought possible.
We specialize in equine subjects because of our experience in the industry, and our large bank of supplementry material (backgrounds, props, and images). Race finishes, horses, jockeys, trainers, owners, anything to do with thoroughbred horse racing. However, as time permits, we also take orders for digital remastering of other subjects; the principles are the same! Please feel welcome to enquire about restoration of your personal family photographs!

Costs:
Quotations for restoration work are provided free of charge. Email us on info@thoroughbredvillage.com.au to discuss your requirements. Alternatively, call us on 0438-639-566 (mobile), a landline number can be provided if lengthy discussion is preferred.
Photorestoration work is priced at $35 per hour, depending on the complexity. Most simple jobs take 1 hour and therefore the cost is $35 plus incidentals (CD, postage, etc). More complex problems can take up to 3 hours. Work requiring extensive restoration can take considerably longer, in such circumstances the cost is discussed with the client. Costs associated with postage are additional to the hourly rate.
Photographic Output:
We do not normally produce the printed output. Our digital artists are primarily skilled in photo restoration and artwork. Printing of the final image is best performed by photographic retailers who have the expensive equipment necessary for printing extremely high quality images for display. Normally, our work is returned to you on a CD that can be taken to your nearest photographic shop for printing and enlargement. However, if it is your wish, we are more than happy to perform the printing job for you and include any of these 3rd party costs in your total invoice. Prices for output are quoted separately. Photographic output is produced in black and white or colour, and of any dimension and number of copies.
Prices for printed output are as follows:
- 6 x 4 inch: $1.00
- 5 x 7 inch: $2.95
- 6 x 8 inch: $6.90
- 8 x 12 inch: $12.80
- 11 x 14 inch: $24.70
A one-time handling fee of $5.00 is charged to help offset costs associated with delivery of digital images to the printers.
Electronic Output:
Output to computer disk: $5.00 per CD ROM disk.
How to send your photographs:
We know the enormous value you place on your photographic images so our staff take great care in scanning the original photos and returning them to you in the same condition you sent them.
To send it safely, follow these steps:
1. Sandwich the photo between 2 sheets of stiff cardboard. Place a piece of plain paper over the face of the photo for protection from scratching on cardboard.
2. Tape the ends of the cardboard to hold the package firmly.
3. No need to put return envelope/postage. We supply that.
4. Include a personal cheque or money order payable to Thoroughbred Village to cover the costs of restoration; an estimate will be made to you on initial consultation.
NOTE: Without a cheque or money order, your work cannot be processed and will be returned.
5. Mark the outside of your package: PHOTOS ENCLOSED - DO NOT BEND!
6. Include your name, postal address, phone number, and email address. Include a complete set of detailed instructions for the service you require: restore, colourize, touchup, removal/addition, cropping, and the final output. Be as specific as possible regarding the services you desire. If you are sending multiple photos, be sure the directions are attached to each one (post-it notes on the back are convenient). You may use the printable order form if desired.
7. You may wish to insure your package for your own protection. Photos are mailed at your own risk! We are not responsible for any losses or damage incurred during postage and handling. Use of mail couriers are encouraged.
PLEASE READ OUR POLICY BEFORE SENDING ANY PHOTOGRAPHS.
