Iconic Racehorses throughout history
Horses and people have had a relationship that lasts to this day. They were animals that people rode to get to a destination and into battle. People also used to race horses as a means of sport and that kind of sport is still alive today.
There are lots of platforms to cover several horseracing events. Some platforms like betstation.com cover these events, but they also cover other events from sports like basketball, tennis, MMA, boxing, and more. The main thing about these sites is to enjoy them responsibly.
As horseracing is a sport that has been spanning for decades there have been some iconic horses throughout that time. In that regard, here are some amazing racing horses from back in the day:
Mill Reef
The thing about Mill Reef is that it’s a horse that was trained in England. This horsey had been active from 1971 to 1972, but it made sure to make it to the top of the charts. The thing that distinguished Mill Reef from other horses is his specialty which was racing over long distances. The horse would lead by a relatively large margin which is why it’s remembered. Mill has got a record that puts it at the top when it comes to iconic horses at the races which is why it deserves a spot on this list.
Phar Lap
Unlike the first horse on this list, Phar Lap was trained in Australia. Before it became one of the dominant horses in the world of horseracing, Phar Lap was dominating Australian races. The horse did so for 3 seasons as it went undefeated. The horses golden years spanned from 1929 to 1932. Sadly, Phar Lap was poisoned by the horse’s heart and was preserved in the National Museum of Australia. When the horse was done with Australia it moved on to the States where it dominated the races again. Phar Lap is on many lists of top horses which is why it’s on this one too.
Brigadier Gerard
There are many doubts about this horse and it can truly be referred to as one of the best horses on the track. That’s because Brigadier Gerard has a stellar record since it faced relatively weak competition. Still, Gerard managed to win the best 2,000 Guineas of the century. The track record has 17 wins out of 18 races and the only horse Gerard lost to is Roberto. All things aside, this is the kind of record that only a few horses have making Brigadier Gerard a truly impressive horse.
Pretty Polly
Another English horse to have graced the track is Pretty Polly. Unlike the other horses on this list, this horse has 24 races under its belt. Pretty Polly had been active between 1904 and 1905 and it had an amazing run making it one of the best horses throughout history.
These are only some of the iconic horses that have left a mark on the world of horseracing. You can continue galloping and find out more about other icons.
